Jesus taught that it would be those with a mild and meek mental disposition who would inherit the earth. Others render this as mild-tempered, of gentle spirit, humble-minded. The Master has borrowed the words from Psalm 37:11. He was an outstanding example of this characteristic, for he himself calls, “Pick up my yoke and learn from me, because I am meek and humble in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls.” [Matthew 11:29 NCMM]
The opposite of this disposition is one that is confrontational, argumentative, aggressive, or contentious. Such a person is opinionated and adversarial, virtually always contradicting others. Along these lines Paul counsels, “In addition, permit the peace and harmony of the Christ to be the controlling factor within your hearts. …Allow Christís word take up residence within you with all of its rich wisdom.” [Colossians 3:15, 16 NCMM]
Abba bless you.
