The Master taught two outcomes for those who heard [or, read] his teachings. On the one hand the wise person who would survive a great storm would be the one who heard these teachings in the Sermon on the Mount and practiced them. In contrast the stupid person would be the one who heard but did not obey. Such a person’s house would suffer a great collapse.
Such a warning behooves each believer to become very familiar with the teachings of the Master in the Sermon on the Mount – and then, put them into practice. Such teachings included: avoiding being angry with an associate; making peace with a fellow; avoiding lusting thoughts; avoiding divorce without proper grounds; keeping your word and fulfill the promises you make to others; giving charitably to those asking you; and showing loving charity even to the wicked and unthankful. These are but a few teachings of the Master in just chapter five of the Gospel of Matthew. Read chapters six and seven and discover other teachings we must obey as Christians.
Abba bless you.
